The 6 Finalists
Portuguese artists Ana Cardoso, Bernardo Correia, João Gabriel, Ana Guedes, Igor Jesus and Argentinian artist Claire de Santa Coloma are the finalists of the 2017 EDP Foundation New Artists Award.
The selection of the six finalists for this 12th edition, from a total of over 600 applications, was made by a curatorial team made up of Ana Anacleto – MAAT’s curator and curatorial coordinator –, Filipa Oliveira –Eugénio de Almeida Forum artistic director – and João Silvério – FLAD’s curator of the contemporary art collection.
The selected artists will take part in a collective exhibition which will take place at MAAT, scheduled for the end of June. Over the course of the exhibition, an international jury will select the winning artist, who will receive a prize of 20 thousand euros.
Winners of previous editions include: Joana Vasconcelos, Leonor Antunes, Vasco Araújo, Carlos Bunga, João Maria Gusmão and Pedro Paiva, João Leonardo, André Romão, Gabriel Abrantes, Priscila Fernandes, Ana Santos or Mariana Silva.
