Igor Jesus

28 years old, lives and works between Lisbon and Berlin, where he is currently on a residency at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, until December 2017, sponsored by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He has a degree in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon University. In 2013, he won first prize at the ICA (Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual) competition for directing short films.

His solo exhibitions include: Chessari (2016), Galeria Solar, Vila do Conde, A última carta ao Pai Natal (2015), Galeria Filomena Soares e Debaixo do Sol (2015), Appleton Square, both in Lisbon. In 2014 he presented the exhibition Old School #32, in Lisbon, and in 2013, Peso Morto, Espaço Zero, Tomar.

Among his more recent collective exhibitions, we highlight: HangarOut – EntreLinhas, Palácio Marquês de Abrantes (2017), 2016 Artists' Film International (at MAAT, Lisbon, Whitechapel Gallery, London, Istanbul Modern, Turkey, GAMeC – Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo, Italy, and Project 88, Bombay, India); Topología del Aura, Galeria Bacelos, Madrid (2016), Abaixo as fronteiras! Vivam o design e as artes – Dialogue about design and works from the António Cachola collection, Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Elvas and Pátio da Galé in Lisbon (2016) and The lynx knows no boundaries, Fondation d’Entreprise Ricard, Paris.
