Luísa Jacinto - Shining Indifference
27 MAR 2024 - 02 SEP 2024
MAAT Central
In Shining Indifference, Luísa Jacinto (b. 1984) challenges the public to enter into a game of observation, foreknowledge, and attention to new limits of vision. Between the visible and the invisible, the desire to name what they see and the ignorance of the elements present there, the public is invited to explore this new universe, specially conceived by the artist for the Ashpit 8 venue. Jacinto uses different materials – rubber membrane, thread, fabric, metal, spray, watercolour, loose pigments – and supports, which establish an increasingly fluid boundary between painting, sculpture, and installation.
Ashpit 8 is a programme venue located in the MAAT Central building. Since 2021, its programme has defined it as a place of experimentation dedicated to the presentation of projects specifically conceived for the venue by invited artists and curators.
