  • EDP Solidarity Programme 2018 has a budget of two million euros destined to the areas of Social Inclusion and Health.

  • Applications for projects in the area of Social Inclusion will be accepted from 21 May.

  • Applications for projects in the area of Health will be accepted from 2 to 20 July.

Between 21 May and 8 June, applications for the EDP Solidarity Programme 2018 will be accepted for the area of Social Inclusion. The programme has a budget of one million euros to support initiatives related to thermal comfort and minimising energy precarity.

Entities eligible for the EDP Solidarity Programme – Social Inclusion 2018 will be those with proposals to improve thermal comfort of users and beneficiaries, as well as reducing the risk of energy precarity by offering information and training campaigns for vulnerable people. Among eligible institutions will be private social welfare entities, hospitals and other civil society organisations.

“The EDP Solidarity Programme has been, from the start, a driving force for developing hundreds of projects linked to social issues, in every district in the country, supporting projects which improve the quality of life of vulnerable people and communities, and which fight social exclusion”, explains Miguel Coutinho, member of the board and general director of EDP Foundation. In 2018, EDP Foundation once again invests in a programme which, as Miguel Coutinho describes, “by focussing on thermal comfort and on fighting energy precarity, will contribute to reducing social inequality and lay the foundations for a more equal and sustainable society”.

Since its launch, in 2004, the EDP Solidarity Programme – the largest private initiative of social investment in Portugal – has ensured the continuity and sustainability of 370 projects around the country, having contributed with a total investment of 12.5 million euros.

This year, EDP Foundation will provide two million euros to support the ‘EDP Solidarity – Social Inclusion’ and ‘EDP Solidarity – Health’ programmes. Applications in the area of Health, which should also contemplate improving thermal comfort for users in the facilities of the applicant entities, will be accepted from 2 to 20 July.
