Of other spaces

Taking its title and inspiration from an essay by Michel Foucault, Of Other Spaces deals with artistic approaches which, as they abandon the types of spaces recognisable in scientific and technical arenas, encourage a critical research of the social and psychological tendencies emerging from the concepts and representations of space. For each title in the series “Perspectives”, whose volumes are published concurrently with the exhibitions held by MAAT dedicated to the EDP Foundation Art Collection, the curators offer a particular theme as the focus for a unique selection of works by Portuguese artists. These various curatorial selections present the collection’s works of art as a living platform offering different reflections and interpretations around modernity.
