The maat – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology will be celebrating its 4th anniversary over the weekend of 3 to 5 October, offering free admission to both the maat and Central buildings over those three days, between 11 am and 7 pm.
As well as visits to the exhibitions held across both buildings – including the recently opened Ballad of Today, by André Cepeda and Feast. Fury. Femina. Works from the FLAD Collection –, the programme also includes guided tours of the gardens of the EDP Foundation campus and architecture-themed tours. This weekend programme will also include itinerant music featuring Farra Fanfarra and Swing na Guelra, children’s theatre, workshops and talks.
All activities will have limited capacity in accordance with the safety procedures and recommendations from the national health authorities (DGS), as well as current legislation on preventative measures against COVID-19.
The maat opened on 5 October 2016. Designed by English architect Amanda Levete, the new building is located on the riverfront of Belém’s historical area, alongside the Central Tejo, a Portuguese example of industrial architecture from the first half of the 20th century.
