The third edition of Drawing Room Lisboa – a contemporary art fair specialising in the medium of drawing, takes place from 14 to 18 October at the Portuguese Society of Fine Arts and, once again, it is sponsored by the EDP Foundation.
The programme for the third edition of Drawing Room Lisboa presents a carefully-selected exhibition of Portuguese contemporary drawing: a list of 60 artists which includes the best representation of Portuguese visual arts, both by renowned artists and by others at the start of their careers. Helena Almeida, Pedro Barateiro, Sara Mealha, Paulo Brighenti, Paulo Lisboa, Isabel Madureira Andrade, Jorge Queiroz, Rita Ferreira, Paula Rego, Manuel San-Payo, Ana Romãozinho and Pedro Tudela are among them.
By observing the current panorama, the third edition of Drawing Room Lisboa confirms its role as a pioneering platform for valuing and marketing drawing. Alongside the on-site edition, which this year focuses on Portuguese contemporary drawing, the Fair showcases the best in international contemporary drawing through its online edition of #DrawingRoomStore and takes the international galleries on a world tour, creating new projects, sales and relationships without leaving their place. Eighteen international galleries and two Projects join the twenty galleries of the General Program in taking part in the online edition of Drawing Room Lisboa.
It is also worth highlighting the exhibition O sol de inverno: a cavalo congela a minha sombra (Winter Sun: on horseback, it freezes my shadow), an exhibit revealing the work of 12 artists without gallery representation in Portugal. This exhibition is supported by the EDP Foundation which once again partners up with Drawing Room Lisboa to share the mission of promoting and providing visibility to artistic talent, thus contributing to the cultural and commercial recognition of the creative work produced by these artists. “Once again, the EDP Foundation partners up with this project for the role it plays in promoting Portuguese visual artists and for its ability to draw international galleries and the artists represented by them. Drawing Room Lisboa shares EDP Foundation’s mission to promote and provide visibility to artistic talent”, emphasises Miguel Coutinho, Member of the Board and General Director of EDP Foundation.
