EDP FOUNDATION SUPPORTS 37 NEW PROJECTS

Twenty-five projects supported by the EDP Solidarity Programme for Social Inclusion. And 20 scholarships awarded to exceptional university students from disadvantaged social backgrounds within the remit of the EDP Solidarity Programme for Education.

EDP Solidarity Programme

There are 37 projects selected from over 750 applications. Causes such as supporting older people with dementia, improving the quality of life of people with special needs and supporting women who are victims of violence are some of the social issues which the projects on Social Inclusion aim to address. Within the EDP Solidarity Programme for Health, funding went to support projects in the fields of Cardiology and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

The projects supported in 2015 – the year when EDP Solidarity became structured into these three different areas, and when it increased its contribution to 2.1 million euros – strengthen a network which already boasts 300 partners in every district in the country.

The EDP Solidarity Programme, which has been developed by the EDP Foundation since 2004, is the largest private programme for social investment in Portugal, and its aim is to support projects which improve the quality of life of socially-deprived people, and to help to integrate communities at risk of social exclusion.
