EDP Foundation wants to invest in projects with a positive social impact and that promote a fair energy transition in Portugal. Financial support will be awarded through the EDP Energy Solidarity Programme to improve the quality of life of people in vulnerable situations (be it physical, psychological, social or economic) and at risk of social exclusion.
Projects must fall under one of the following themes:
energy knowledge, inclusion and energy efficiency, renewable energies and sustainable mobility, natural heritage and the circular economy, wildlife, climate action, and training and education.
All private non-profit or for-profit organisations, as well as public schools and educational institutions can apply.
Applications will be open between 1 April and 31 May here, where all the information about the current edition is available, including regulations and dates and locations of workshops to support the preparation of applications.
In order to maximise the social impact of the projects, the pre-selected proposals will be invited to develop a more in-depth application and will benefit from support during this process.
Projects will be assessed on the basis of criteria such as the relevance of the proposed social responses and their innovative nature, the target audience to benefit from them, and the sustainability of the project, among other elements. The winners will be announced in March 2026.
‘Energy transition is one of the greatest challenges of our time, and it is imperative for it to be inclusive and reach everyone. It is thus a huge opportunity for us to join forces and identify social responses that are increasingly innovative in their various dimensions, with greater potential for transformation and social impact. This year, as in the previous one, EDP Energia Solidária is taking on a more global expression, investing in Portugal, Spain and Brazil,’ explained Vera Pinto Pereira, president of the EDP Foundation.
The EDP Energy Solidarity programme celebrated its 20th anniversary in Portugal in 2024, the same year in which it supported the development of 13 new social projects. Since its creation, it has supported 430 projects across the country, which have benefited more than 1.5 million people and in which the EDP Foundation has invested a total of 19 million euros.
