From 2 May, the 2017 EDP Solidarity Programme will welcome applications for projects within the remit of social inclusion. This programme by EDP Foundation aims to support projects which promote better quality of life for people and communities in vulnerable situations or at risk of social exclusion.
Applications can be submitted on this webpage by 15 May.
Since its launch in 2004, the EDP Solidarity Programme – the biggest platform of private social investment in Portugal – has already secured continuity and sustainability for 350 projects around the country, with an investment totalling over 11 million euros.
This year, EDP Foundation will contribute with 2.1 million euros to support three major programmes: Health, Social Inclusion and Education.
In 2016 alone, the programme supported 30 social inclusion projects and awarded 12 grants to outstanding university students from socially-deprived backgrounds. In the health sector, it funded 17 projects on Palliative Care for adults.
Applications for the health branch of the programme, which this year will focus on improving the national implementation and expansion of “Via Verde do Acidente Vascular Cerebral (AVC)” and “Via Verde Coronária” – cerebrovascular accidents and heart conditions remain the primary causes of death in Portugal –, will take place in the first two weeks of July.
