Electra 30 focuses on fear, analysing its intentions, functions and effects. Present in contemporary political and cultural discourse, fear is addressed here as a force that shapes behaviour and governance, but also as a historical and philosophical element that has marked eras, regimes and collective dynamics. Its causes range from war and ecological crisis to economic instability, and its use as a political instrument is also explored. The dossier brings together texts and interviews that reflect on the specific fears of our time, born of current historical, social and cultural conditions.

In the ‘First Person’ section, two interviews stand out: one with a French writer, whose work crosses genres and dialogues with history and the arts; and another with an American academic who addresses the challenges of digital machines and artificial intelligence. The portfolio is dedicated to an American artist whose visually striking work critically questions the proliferation of images.
